Improve your social status this October… with a book!

Books are a status symbol. Here’s why owning a book makes you better than your book-less counterparts:

It takes time to choose a book. Unlike your book-less peers, you got to experience the joy of time in a bookstore. You had the luxury of having time to make your way to your local bookstore -NOT online- you’re too mindful of your community’s economical success to do something as thoughtless as order from A****n! You spent time perusing shelves, carefully selecting the perfect collection of bound paper, filled with words that will be simultaneously scintillating and relaxing. You spent a few precious seconds rifling through the pages, basking in the scent of paper and ink. Then you pay, which brings us to our second reason.

Books cost money. Even if you are on a fixed income, the fact is that you had enough to splurge on a book -a luxury item. Unlike your book-less friends, you know how to budget for a true treasure. The Story Lorry has competitive prices -I always round down on new books, so you usually end up saving a dollar or so, and I always undercharge for my used books… which makes you even more money savvy! Obviously, because, as you’ll see in our next reason, book people are smart!

Reading inevitably opens your mind to new ideas, whether you’re reading a guilty-pleasure novella or a tome of deep philosophical prose, and people know it! People see you with a book, and they think, “Hey- there’s a thinker!” Thankfully you had the forethought to get a hard copy of the book. “You can’t show others you’re reading it with the digital edition.  You can’t leave your iPad laying around to show others how smart you are.” -The Revenge of Analog.

Did you know you’re friendly, too? When people see how clever you must be, they’ll want to talk about it. Book lovers love talking books, because intelligent people love intelligent conversations. Your book is a natural icebreaker for the best kind of people.

Wise use of free time.

Supports local economy.

Prosperous.

Smart.

Socially competent.

How cool are you?
