Last holiday season I displayed some nice, festive book and gift sets, and created a warm, welcoming retreat with sparkling decor and a nice lil space heater, in hopes of bringing books and art supplies to your favorite holiday shopping locales…
…but here’s what really happened:
The space heater -while never getting warm enough to be truly comfortable- warmed up the Story Lorry enough to melt the snow off of everyone’s boots. Then the cold air floating around underneath the Story Lorry re-froze that melted snow, creating an ice-rink all over the retro Winnebago tile. I’m sorry, but I’m not putting you or myself through that again.
I might set up a table here and there with seasonally appropriate reads: stay tuned for updates on when/where that might be.
As much as it pains me to do so, I am also putting my inventory online. I know, the internet is a cold, impersonal void -lacking the smell of paper, the rustling of pages, the joyful conversation that leads to wonderful book recommendations- but it is a tool to be utilized when adversaries such as the weather make mobile businesses less desirable.
